It's official: the expansion The M6 in the Pokémon JCC is called Storm Emeralda (Storm Emeralda, also spelled Storm Emerald) and arrives in Japan on July 31, 2026. After Mega Darkrai's Abyss in Abyss Eye (M5), the MEGA series raises the stakes with one of the most beloved Pokémon in history: Mega Rayquaza ex.

What is Storm Emeralda (M6)?

Storm Emeralda is the sixth expansion in the MEGA stage of the Japanese Pokémon TCG, featuring Mega Rayquaza ex and a storm of Dragon- and Electric-type Pokémon. The set includes more than 76 cards, and like all recent Japanese expansions, its most sought-after cards will be the high-rarity ones: the Special Art Rares (SARs) and the coveted Golden MURs, with Mega Shinx (ex) standing out as one of them.

Rayquaza is sure to be in high demand: its cards have been among the game’s most sought-after for twenty years, and this is the first time its Mega Evolution has headlined an expansion in this series. All signs point to Storm Emeralda being one of the most sought-after sets of the year, and in Japan, pre-orders are already being handled through a lottery system at several retail chains.

The Japanese Booster Box

The Storm Emeralda box includes 30 envelopes of 5 cards, factory-sealed. As is always the case with Japanese products, the card pull rates are more consistent than in Western boxes, and the set will arrive in the West many months later, under a different name and with a different numbering system. If you want the Mega Rayquaza cards before anyone else, the Japanese box is your best bet.
